History of Sikhism

Guru Nanak (1469-1539)

Born in 1469, he was a saintly man with a deep knowledge of God. He was a philosopher, poet, and spiritual leader. He preached about the unity of all religions, love and tolerance. He founded Sikhism in the Punjab region of India in 1519. His teachings include equality among all faiths, and he is revered as the founder of Sikhism. Nanak was born into a Hindu family, and his parents were very religious. His father died when he was five years old. He became a merchant, traveling around India selling cotton and spices. He converted to Islam, which became the official religion in the Punjab in 1526.

Early Modern (1469 CE –1708 CE)

 

This period was a time when the Islamic Empire was at its height. It was under the leadership of the Mughals, and was a time when the Muslim culture flourished. They established trading centers, and built mosques, colleges and hospitals. It was during this period that Islam spread across Asia and Europe. The Islamic Caliph was the leader of Muslims and he was elected by the Muslim community. He was the commander-in-chief and his decisions were followed by the Islamic army. He was the most powerful ruler and he ruled over a large kingdom. The Muslim armies marched into Central Asia and conquered the Buddhist empire. During this time, Islam was spreading across Asia and Europe.

Guru Angad Dev

 

was born in the year 1531. He was a descendant of the Guru Nanak. When Guru Angad Dev was young, he got ill, so he decided to go back to his guru. But his father was very angry with him and wanted him to become a warrior and fight against the enemies. He had a dream about Guru Nanak, who told him to be peaceful. So, Guru Angad Dev took the decision to go back to the monastery, and he asked his teacher to teach him about peace. He lived peacefully for three years. After this, he started to build a city called Lahore. He was a great scholar and a very holy man.

Guru Amar Das

 also known as Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, was born in 150 AD. He was the third guru of the Sikhs. He founded the city of Amritsar, which is the capital of Punjab. He preached the principles of love, equality and tolerance. He was an important leader during the time of Guru Angad Dev. He was a very wise and powerful person who showed great respect for other religions.Guru Amar Das was very wise and powerful. He was a scholar and was a great poet. He was considered to be a holy man. He was a very religious man. He lived a simple life. He did not own any worldly possessions. He gave his wealth to the needy.

Guru Ram Das

was a holy man. He was very good-looking and was very popular. His friends were so fond of him that they even gave their family jewels to him. He was a pious man who cared for other people. He never harmed anyone. He treated everyone kindly and gave charity to the poor. He gave away his property to the poor and he gave his wealth to people who needed it. He gave away his money to those who were needy and needed help. He taught the truth to everyone. He taught people to live a simple life. He said that everyone should be respected. He taught people to live a virtuous life. He taught people how to live in harmony. He taught people to follow the principles of truth and righteousness.

Guru Arjan Dev

ji was born on November 14, 1563 AD. He was the youngest son of the fourth guru of the Sikhs. He was born in Amritsar. After his father passed away in 1583, he took over as the leader of the Sikhs. He took over as the fifth guru of the Sikhs in 1581. During his time as the guru, he started constructing the Golden temple. He said that it would be a place for people to worship God and also a place where people could live peacefully. He believed that people should respect others and treat them with kindness. He said that everyone should have the right to live their life as they like. He said that the world is full of suffering and poverty.

Guru HarGobind Sahib Ji

was born in 1563 in India. He had four brothers. His father was a great devotee of the Lord. His father died when Guru HarGobind was very young. His father's passing away led him to take on the responsibility of leading the Sikhs. His father wanted the Sikhs to follow the ways of the Lord, but most of the Sikhs didn't want to leave the customs that they were used to. Guru HarGobind didn't understand why they were following the customs that they did. After a while, he decided to try and convert them to follow the ways of the Lord. He traveled all around and tried to convince them. Many people resisted what he was doing.

Guru Har Rai

had a lot of problems because he was a very young boy and people thought he was crazy.Guru Har Rai wanted the Sikhs to follow the ways of the Lord. He tried to convince them, but many people didn't want to change. He had a lot of trouble convincing them. After a while, he went to see the Holy Scriptures. He realized that the Lord wanted them to follow the ways of the Lord. He saw how much people suffered because they didn't want to follow the ways of the Lord. Guru Har Rai thought that he would be a great prophet. He started teaching the Holy Scriptures. He realized that the scriptures said that he could become the great Guru.

Guru Har Krishan

was born in 1796. He died in 1835 at the age of 27. He did many good deeds during his short life. Before he was born, his father gave him to his uncle Guru Teg Bahadur to raise as his own son. He learned about the Holy Scriptures and he got to know about the teachings of the great prophets. He decided to learn more about the ways of the Lord. In order to learn the ways of the Lord, he went to meet Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He found out that the Holy Scriptures said that he could become the next Guru of the Sikhs.He began teaching the Holy Scriptures. He told the people that they should follow the ways of the Lord.

Guru Tegh Bahadur

was born in 1563. He lived for only forty-nine years. His father named him as the tenth Sikh Guru. He was also called Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He lived in Lahore. He was the one who founded the city of Amritsar.During his short life, he performed many good deeds. Before he was born, his father gave him to his uncle Guru Teg Bahadur to raise as his own son. He learned about the Holy Scriptures and he got to know about the teachings of the great prophets. He decided to learn more about the ways of the Lord. In order to learn the ways of the Lord, he went to meet Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji

was born in the year 1666 at Patna. His father was a businessman. During his childhood, he spent most of his time studying the Holy Scriptures. He read the works of great spiritual leaders. As he grew older, he started visiting the shrines of the saints and sages. After meeting Guru Nanak Dev Ji, he started practicing the ways of the Lord. The Lord gave him spiritual knowledge and gave him special powers. When he returned home, he told his parents about the ways of the Lord. When he explained what he knew, his father had no words to say. He was amazed that a man his age knew so much. He felt that he was blessed by the Lord.
